The Varier Variable Balans is the kind of chair that quickly grows on you. After you've sat on it for a few days, you'll never want to go back to your old way of sitting. Jonathan met with Peter Opsvik in the early eighties and has used the design since.
Designed by Peter Opsvik in 1979, Variable balans is the original kneeling chair, a Varier classic.
Varier chairs are made from top quality beech plywood sourced from European forests.
The plywood process uses several veneer layers that are laminated and glued using a combination of heat and pressure to create a strong and unique shape.
For the beautiful finish, the ply frame is top veneered with ash which in turn is manually sanded and coated with a water-based, nontoxic lacquer in natural or black.
All wooden parts are designed to flex and move with the body ensuring a sitting experience that is never static.
An optional backrest provides further support if necessary. Please call in store for more details.
